various, etc.
Hey folks.  I decided to write a quick entry because a) I haven't updated in a while and b) I have a religion paper that I just do not want to write.  For lack of a better way of doing things, here's a bulleted list of what's been going on in my life (starting with what I consider to be most important):

  • I got hired to work at Peterkin Conference Center in Romney, WV (Eastern Panhandle, about 7 hours from Tiffin) for the summer.  I'll be spending 8+ weeks leading music for all ages (from 3-73) including a creative arts week and and an outdoor adventure week.  I feel so blessed that I get to spend my summer in the thinnest place and most amazing place I've ever been.
  • I got hired to be on Orientation Team 2006.  That's right folks, Jordan Trumble is going to be an OA for Fall Transition!  A week and a half after I get back from camp, I leave again for school so I can shape the impressionable minds of the Cap Class of 2010!
  • Only five more weeks of school!  I'm getting excited for the summer.  I'll be home for six weeks or so (4-5 before camp and 1.5 after)
The entry was much more interesting in my head.  Oh well.

friday's thoughts - from the computer room at home.

I've really enjoyed being on break from school.  I never thought I would have enjoyed a week in Tiffin so much.  But I have.  It's kind of crazy.  In the past couple of months, just since winter break, I've learned to appreciate Tiffin and the experiences I had here.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to in Tiffin for the summer.  97% sure.  The other 3% is dependent upon me getting a job elsewhere...which I probably won't get due to nepotism and politics.  Though if I do get the job, it will probably be due to the same nepotism I depise.  So where does that leave me?

So, that what rhetorical.  I know where it leaves me.  It leaves me in Tiffin for the summer, though I'm thinking that is probably what I need.

More later.

"all i heard was 'blah blah blah, i'm a dirty whore'"
It's nice to know that two weeks of the semester are over.   I'm already pretty wiped out.  However, I have had a pretty good week.

On Sunday night, everyone went out drinking except for a few of us so we put together a puzzle and then Brian and I watched Last of the Mohicans. Friday night, I went on a FISCh overnight with Marcheddar and Niki and then a few others who were there for a bit.  It was pretty fun.  When I got back in the morning, I slept for four hours and then I had lunch with some cool kids, hung out for a while, and then went to Wal-Mart.  Upon returning to Capital, I dyed Porter's hair and gave her a haircut while she, Mary Anne, Brian and I watched a movie.  Afterwards, we went to Taco Bell and then about eight of us (Jarrod, Porter, Marcheddar, Mike, Mary Anne, DD, Brian, and I) went to Jarrod's and watched Love Actually (awesome).  After the movie, we came back to Cotterman and Brian and I talked for a while and then decided to watch Mary Poppins which Jarrod had lent to me.

Anyway, I've been staying up ridiculously late since I've been back at school. I've been going to bed around 3:30 every night (with the exception of Wednesday night when I went to bed around 2:30). It's friggin' ridiculous. And I'm tired.  At the same time, late night conversations with various (usually some combination of Chase, Brian, David, DD, the Amandas, Mike, and Erin) have been pretty awesome.  On Thursday night, there was a four hour discussion about religion (I went to bed about half an hour before it ended).

Since I've been back at school, I've hung out with the big group a lot less.  At the same time, I've grown a lot closer to many other people.  I'm already pretty overwhelmed with everything going on...I dropped a class because I just didn't feel like I could handle everything going on.  I don't know.

random thoughts from a hotel lobby (thanks to wireless internet)
[note: this entry was written around midnight on Saturday night]

I'm currently sitting in the lobby of a Holiday Inn in Cincinnati listening to David Bauser play guitar and sing a song about burning in hell. Now he's singing one about eternal life. Each song is to the tune of Barbara Ann. Hilarious.  It's been a long and very interesting weekend to say the least. I've spent the past two days with approximately 600 junior high students, attending worship and leading a few workshops today. It's been a powerful weekend. The speaker, "Packer" Dave has been pretty amazing.

Katie Golovin and I led a a workshop about bridging the gap between youth and adults in congregations. We led the same workshop for three different groups throughout the day; they got progressively better.  It was really awesome to hear the kids coming up with all sorts of ideas about how to get involved with the adults.  It was also really good to hear them interpretting the Bible passage.  There were some smart kids in there!

For the rest of the weekend, I hung out with the others in the group, mostly David and Katie.  We had some fun times.  Earlier this evening, Shane, Katie, David, and I went to Kroger.  David brought his guitar and I brought my harmonica and we walked through the store playing music.  Hilarious.  Afterwards, we all hung out in the party room and had family time.  We shared our faith stories which was pretty awesome.  Afterwards, David and I were sitting out in the hall talking but the security guard told us we couldn't sit there because it was after the kids' curfew.  So we are down in the main lobby.

David and I had a good talk about various things and he helped me gain a new perspective on a few things.  Hooray for friends.

various thoughts from room 135
Today was the first day of my second semester of college.  Yay?  I'm taking 18 hours which, hopefully, won't be too terrible.

My schedule is as follows:
MWF:
Cultural Pluralism, 11 am
Health, 12 pm
Economics, 1 pm
Religion, 2pm
TTH:
History of Modern Japan, 11 am
Native American History, 2 pm

Cultural Pluralism won't be too bad.  David Bauser and a couple of other cool people are in that class so that'll be cool.  There is a bit of reading and such but, otherwise, there isn't much work.  Health will be really easy.  Porter, Pam, Mary Anne, and Owen are in that class so I'll always have someone to talk to.  Niiice.  Econ will be a bit of work but not horrible.  There will be a lot of reading.  The only grades are exam grades...everything else is extra credit.  We're allowed to do the extra credit with people from other classes and, since Barker is in the 2pm session, we can work together sometimes.  Religion should be okay.  Jon Hefflebower is in that class which is cool.  Besides Jon and me, there are maybe two other first years so I don't really know anyone else.  That class shouldn't be too terribly difficult.  I'm hoping my history classes won't be too bad.  If they are, I might drop one of them.  I can already tell that I'm going to have to work really hard this semester and I don't want to kill myself over my work.

Speaking of work, I'm working 10 hours a week:
Sunday 1-4
Tuesday 1-2, 6-11
Thursday 1-2.

That's right...I work a five hour shift on Tuesday nights.  That kind of sucks but oh well.  I suppose I'll be using that time for homework.

In other news, I'm not too happy about being back at school.  I realized that I would much, much rather be in Tiffin right now.  I'm not at all in the mood to be around people right now.  I really just nead some peace and quiet so I can relax.  And that's definitely not going to happen.
